Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-03-08

1. Introduction

WalletMap is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. Our core principle is zero server-side storage of your financial data.

2. Data Controller

WalletMap operates as the data controller for the limited personal information described in this policy. For questions regarding your data, please contact us at support@walletmap.app.

3. Information We Collect

  • Google account basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) for authentication purposes.
  • Session data required to maintain your login state.
  • Your locale preference (language setting).

4. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Your bank account balances or financial institution details.
  • Your stock portfolio holdings or trading data.
  • Your cryptocurrency wallet addresses or holdings.
  • Your transaction history or financial records.
  • All of the above data is stored exclusively in your own Google Sheets, which only you can access.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate you via Google OAuth and maintain your session.
  • To create and access your personal Google Sheets spreadsheet for asset tracking.
  • To fetch real-time price quotes and exchange rates from third-party APIs on your behalf.
  • We never sell, share, or transfer your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

  • Session cookie (next-auth.session-token): Essential for maintaining your authenticated session.
  • Locale preference cookie: Stores your language choice (zh-TW or en).
  • Cookie consent (localStorage): Records your cookie preference choice.

7. Third-Party Services

  • Google OAuth: For authentication and Google Sheets access.
  • CoinGecko API: For cryptocurrency price data.
  • FinMind API: For Taiwan stock market data.
  • Yahoo Finance: For US stock market data.
  • ExchangeRate-API: For currency exchange rates.
  • Google AdSense: For displaying ads on public-facing pages (homepage, blog, guides). See Section 8 below for details.
  • These services have their own privacy policies. We only send the minimum data required to fetch prices and exchange rates — no personal financial data is shared with these services.

8. Advertising and Google AdSense

  • WalletMap uses Google AdSense to display ads on public pages (homepage, blog, guides, feature pages) as the primary way to keep this service free. Your dashboard and pages that display your personal financial data do not show ads.
  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site and across the web. Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads), or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info.
  • We never share the financial data you store in your Google Sheets (asset balances, holdings, crypto positions, transaction history, etc.) with Google AdSense or any advertising partner for ad targeting. Ad serving is based solely on signals Google itself collects that are unrelated to our service (general browser activity, region, interests, etc.).
  • If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will request your consent through a cookie-consent banner before serving personalized ads, in accordance with GDPR. You can withdraw consent at any time via the same banner or through your browser settings.
  • If you are a California resident, under the CCPA / CPRA you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can exercise this right via the Google Ads Settings page mentioned above or through our cookie-consent banner.

9. Data Retention

Your authentication session data is retained only while your session is active. Your financial data in Google Sheets persists independently of our service and is retained as long as you choose to keep it in your Google Drive.

10. Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data directly in your Google Sheets at any time.
  • Deletion: You can delete your Google Sheets data at any time. You can also revoke our access through your Google account settings.
  • Portability: Your data is already in a portable format (Google Sheets) that you fully control.
  • Objection: You can stop using the service at any time without any impact on your stored data.
  • Object to targeted advertising: You can disable Google personalized advertising via the methods described in Section 8 above, or reject advertising cookies via the cookie-consent banner.

11. Children's Privacy

WalletMap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Google AdSense also restricts personalized advertising to users under 13, and we comply with this restriction.

12. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the last updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
